40th PLANit Conference and Centennial of Planetariums: Matera celebrates the history and future of astronomy at the SPARKme Space Academy

One of the most important events of the year concluded with great success at Openet's SPARKme Space Academy in Matera: the 40th National PLANit Conference, which coincided with the Centenary of Planetariums. The event brought together over 300 experts and delegations from 120 European planetariums.
The facility, a true hub of scientific and technological innovation, hosted three days of conferences, exhibitions, immersive and informative activities aimed at students and the public of all ages. Among the key events was the Lectio Magistralis by Prof. Giovanni De Maria and the presentation of the book La Luna respira, with previously unpublished stories about his collaborations with NASA.
The exhibition "100 Years in the Dome," curated by SPARKme with the support of APT Basilicata and the international collaboration with Planit and IPS, also attracted great interest. The exhibition chronicled the evolution of planetariums as instruments of culture and wonder.
PLANit president Dario Tiveron called SPARKme "a one-of-a-kind experience," while APT Basilicata recognized Openet as a key player in the development of scientific tourism and innovative outreach in the region. SPARKme thus confirms its position as a national reference point for the intersection of science, passion, and the future.
