Openet in Kenya:
SPARKme, the accelerator that brings the innovation space in the heart of local entrepreneurship
Openet Technologies has launched a new and ambitious initiative in Kenya that focuses on technological innovation and local entrepreneurship. In collaboration with the Foundation E4Impact, the company launched SPARKme, an accelerator program designed to promote the use of technologies and space-based systems in the commercial sector, through the creation of two Accelerators Technology: one in Matera, Italy, and the other in Nairobi, Kenya.
the objective of The project is clear and far-sighted: to promote the transfer of technology, and strengthen the local capacities (capacity building), allowing start-ups and entrepreneurs to explore the potential of space applications to develop innovative products and services. In Kenya, this vision has already begun to take concrete form: 20 entrepreneurs kenyan were selected and integrated in the program SPARKme, taking part in the pilot phase of twelve months.
The program, implemented with the support of thethe Italian Space Agency (ASI) andthe European Space Agency (ESA), aims to create the conditions for the birth and growth of the african market related to space-based services and satellite channels. The challenge is not only technological, but also cultural: SPARKme aims to “contaminate” the different sectors, with the introduction of space technologies, encouraging processes of cross-fertilization between industries and territories.
In this scenario, Openet Technologies play a key role in Nairobi. Its mission is to provide you with the know-how gained in the aerospace industry to support the local entrepreneurs in the development of solutions capable of responding effectively to the real needs of the market. The twenty selected entrepreneurs are already participating in a structured path of training, coaching and networking. Through personalized sessions and educational activities targeted to have the opportunity to overcome the main obstacles to the adoption of advanced technologies and enhance their skills.
To give greater impetus to the initiative and create connections to the strategic, Openet and the Foundation E4Impact organized in Nairobi, the “Nairobi Space Days” three days of events, conferences and meetings dedicated to the universe of the Space Economy. The initiative has brought together the main stakeholders of the sector, companies, investors and innovators from Italy, Kenya and other Countries, creating an important opportunity for visibility and comparison on the prospects of Space applied to daily life and economic development.
in Parallel, start-ups involved in the program have already started a series of distance education, designed to adapt to the specific needs of each entrepreneur. The goal is to guide you step-by-step in the integration of satellite technologies in their business models, turning innovation into tangible results.
With SPARKme, Openet Technologies will not only strengthens its presence in Kenya, but it contributes actively to the construction of a ecosystem spatial african, capable of enhancing the local entrepreneurial talent and open new prospects for sustainable growth and technologically advanced.
